Welcome to the OVR

Greetings from the Ohio (River) Valley Caving Region of the National Speleological Society. OVR is an internal organization of the NSS dedicated to the principles of the NSS and to the understanding and preservation of caves in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.

• Karst Encounters Oct. 5-6, 2002 - Karst Encounters (near Lexington, KY)

  
  

• Meetings: Two general meetings per year, open to all; 1 executive committee meeting in fall. Summer Meeting: Speleofest, Memorial Day Monday, 9:00 a.m. Winter Meeting: TBA (usually November)

  
  

• Conservation Projects: Annual Conservation Projects rotate between 3 states of OVR: IN, OH, KY 2000 Conservation Project: Held at Leonard Springs Nature Park, Bloomington, IN

  
  

• Publications: 3-4 Press Releases per year to all I/Os in tri-state region.

  
  

• Membership: No dues. Any member of NSS I/O in IN, OH, KY, or organization/individual caving regularly in this area, is automatic member of OVR.

  
  

• Battery Recycling Project: Bring your used alkaline & mercury batteries to Sloan's for recycling. This project is ongoing and recycling bins should be encouraged in every grotto.
