Understanding that some were upset when this was even mentioned as a possibility a few months ago, I'd like to make a suggestion.
This is for those of you that don't have a regular business, but use the Trading Post regularly to buy or sell.
1. That when you find Frontier Folk a good place to sell items.
2. If you can afford it (I'm not out to take food out of anyone's children's mouths!)
3. Not to worry about small items or feel you have to keep up to the minute on any sale.
Considering that:
1. Frontier Folk has grown quite a bit in the past 7 years and can be very time-consuming. We now have over 2,500 registered users. (Multiply the times some of you have contacted me for help with passwords, logon issues, avatars, etc. times the several hundred active people on the board - not to mention ongoing server costs, technical issues, moderation, spam attacks, etc.)
2. Not to belabor the point, but the current recession has hit me as hard (or harder) in 2010 than some and a little extra would go a long way in paying off some bills.
I would like to suggest that you consider making a 5% donation from your sales to Frontier Folk.
I have already had a couple people volunteer to do that and I very much appreciate the thoughtfulness. Some of them and several others have suggested that I facilitate a way to make donations. Here is is!
If you are interested in doing that, I am on Paypal, you can make a free personal transfer, my email account is jhagee@frontierfolk.net. If you would prefer a check, email me for details.
Instead of by sale, you may want to send something weekly or monthly, whatever is most convenient for you depending on the amount of sales you make.
This is not mandatory, it's up to you. I won't be keeping a tally of sales or nagging anyone, it's an honor system and totally up to you to decide if FF has been helpful to you and if you want to help support FF.
Thank you,
Jon
P.S. Feel free to ask me questions here or by email. |

Sounds more than reasonable enough Jon.

Thanks Pink.
I was hoping that making this voluntary would get a sufficient response. Let's see how it goes.
